Nelson’s Cub Club

Join Little Nelson and his Lion family to explore objects from the museum's collections and engage with them through stories, songs, and play!

Nelson’s Cub Club forms part of our family learning provision and is aimed at families with children aged 1-4. It’s a free session and includes a small drink and snack per child. We meet every 2 weeks during termtime on a Wednesday morning and afternoon.

Please see our events page [link to page] for further dates and details, or alternatively follow our social media to keep up to date with what Nelson’s up to.

Sensory programme

During 2024 we have been working with sensory artist Bea Knowles to deliver and develop a sensory play programme. Families visit Clifton Park Museum to engage with sensory play activities across 8 fun filled and engaging early years sessions. Each session explores different animals within our museum collection, including Nelson the lion and Marco the bear.

We want to ensure all the whole family can experience the magic of sensory play and look forward to using the skills and knowledge that Bea has provided in during Nelson’s Cub Club and future family learning activities.

Care home programme

Our teams work with local community groups across Rotherham, sharing their connections with local places and people to see how communities can be represented at Clifton Park Museum and across our heritage sites.

Our Learning and Audience Development team lead on a number of creative and engaging projects aimed at specific targeted communities including Global Majorities, older people, and intergenerational families. Many of these projects enable people who cannot easily visit our sites to still connect, explore, and share their stories with us.
